Franchise News India,Franchise Mumbai,Premium soft furnishing firm Portico India is giving a facelift to home textiles by marketing it as a fashion product and not as a commodity. The company said kids range and premium furnishing and institutional sales would be the major growth drivers.

Arun Bhawsingka, CEO, said: “Home fashion is a huge category, and we see parents and young home owners willing to spend on soft furnishings such as bed and bath products”. Portico said it is creating fashionable products to cater to the vast range. As a part of its efforts, the company said it is scaling up its retail footprint both in the brick and mortar as well as the e-commerce space.

“Both metro and non-metro is growing, backed by a healthy growth in the retail segment. Consumers are also shifting from unbranded to branded products,” said Arunanshu Agarwal, Director.

The company has 23 mono-brand stores. “We are looking to add 200-250 outlets through the franchise route over the next three years,” he said, adding that the expansions would be funded through internal accruals.

Bhawsingka said the company has reported a turnover of 1,000 crore. He said institutional sales to hospitals and the hospitality sector and corporate gifting were a major revenue driver, apart from B2C (business to consumer) sales. Portico products are manufactured at the company’s facility at Daman and Vapi in Gujarat.

The home textile market is estimated at 21,000 crore. Of this, the bed and bath textile segment is estimated at 14,000 crore, and holds just 10 per cent in the organised segment. The company’s products are priced at 6,000 in the premium category.
