Franchise In India,Franchise News India,New Delhi,Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, which is looking to have 200 hotels in the country by 2024, is scouting for locations in smaller cities.

Based in the US, the company has more than 1,300 hotels worldwide.

The group has four hospitality brands in India — Radisson Blu, Park Plaza, Country Inns & Suites by Carlson and Park Inn by Radisson. At present, it has 68 operating properties in India. Another 46 projects will come up by 2024. The group has around 14,000 employees in the country.

The company is searching for locations in the Northeast and is in talks with various investors. The group, essentially a management and franchise company, does not own any property in India but offers its expertise in running them and lends its brand name to hotels.

“We will shortly open a hotel in Guwahati and are in talks with other investors in the Northeast to open hotels in other cities. We are the first international company to go to the Northeast. We have targeted some locations such as Shillong and are in talks with various groups for both mid-segment and upscale properties,” chairman (South Asia) K.B. Kachru said.

The group has two properties coming up in Guwahati — Country Inn and Radisson Blu. The company will also open two Radisson Blu hotels in Calcutta. “The property coming up in Hastings area will hopefully open by the end of 2015,” he added. The other property will come up later near the Calcutta airport. The group already has a Park Plaza operating in the Ballygunge area.

Carlson opens around 13-15 hotels per year. “For our mid-segment brand, we are keen to get good locations in secondary and tertiary towns.
