<\/a>IRCTC<\/p><\/div>Breaking News<\/a><\/strong>,Latest Franchise News India<\/a><\/strong>,Franchise In Nagpur<\/a><\/strong>,IRCTC has started the process to transfer its catering services back to Indian Railway<\/a><\/strong> Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). Allowing IRCTC <\/a><\/strong>to empanel firms to supply branded ‘Ready to eat’ (RTE) meals aboard trains seems to be the first step in this direction.<\/p>\n On July 6, Railway Board asked IRCTC <\/strong>to shortlist firms to supply RTE products to provide variety, quality and hygienic meals at affordable rates to the passengers. A firm once empanelled will have validity across all zonal railways for a period of five years. IRCTC will regularly update information on its website regarding these firms and inform the Railway Board.<\/p>\n The decision seems to be as per the rail budget (2016-17) announcement stating IRCTC would begin to manage catering service in a phased manner.<\/p>\n “We are looking into totality of the issue and IRCTC will take over catering services in phases. However, a policy decision will be taken soon,” said Girish Pillai, additional member (tourism and catering), Railway Board.<\/p>\n The railways <\/strong>had taken over catering services from IRCTC as per the provisions of Catering Policy, 2010, as the corporation could not professionalize catering services and did not perform well.<\/p>\n But even as this transfer is taking place, sources said that not much has changed in IRCTC since the responsibility of catering services was taken away from them.<\/p>\n “IRCTC still doesn’t have enough staff to efficiently manage a huge catering business. Thus, after taking over the base kitchens, it plans to rope in food majors in the city who will supply RTE food based on e-orders” said officials.<\/p>\n Nagpur Division of Central Railways has two base kitchens in Nagpur <\/a><\/strong>and Ballarshah. These kitchens will be taken over by IRCTC to supply food to passengers by roping in private parties, sources said.<\/p>\n According to Central Railway sources, there is no talk about handing over stalls on platforms to IRCTC. 1.
