Ashish Mehra, Operations Head in Grill Inn, in conversation with Franchise Mart discusses about his growing fast food chain and the wide scope of success in food industry. He also talks about the franchising plans for Grill Inn in expansion terms.

Tell us about the genesis of Grill Inn.

Grill Inn has originated from years of experience gained by the company’s founder, who was into export and import of high quality of food products and used to supply it to the several international brands and hostels. We have opened company-owned stores and have done a lot of research and development to bring the best products to the customers. After three years we have stared the franchising format. All our franchisees are now posting profits.

What changed your mind to take franchise route for the expansion of your fast food chain?

The success of our company-owned restaurants and increasing demand from consumers made us go for the franchise route.

What are the special features that can draw franchisees to take the franchise of your brand?

Firstly, we serve a wide range of product like pizzas, burgers, pasta, sandwiches, rolls, ice creams and beverages etc. along with it we also provide:

• High-quality products at an affordable prices
• Sophisticated equipment-based processes which helps in use of less man power
• High profit margin
• High return on low investments

Best quality at reasonable prices.

What are the scopes and challenges in this sector?

There is a wide scope ahead in this sector. The fast food sector is growing up at a rate of 25-30 percent annually due to the effective penetration of the companies which are into franchising both nationally and internationally.

How do you maintain the quality-level of your brand?

Raw materials for products are prepared in plants with world-class machineries and as per the international standards of hygiene. Food in the stores is cooked in high quality equipment while employees maintain a high hygiene level using gloves, caps etc.

What specifics traits do you seek in a franchisee?

A franchisee has to be responsible and energetic.

What are your future plans?

To open 100 more stores by the end of 2013.
