Franchise News India,Franchise Opportunities In India,HYDERABAD: European menswear brand Celio Future Fashion Ltd, which currently owns and operates all of its stores in the country, said it would go slow on third-party e-retailing business.

The move comes at a time when several multinational and home grown brands have stepped up online presence offering massive discounts on e-commerce platforms.

“We do not believe in big discount sales as continuity of customer purchases via such discounts will not sustain for long. We would prefer to go slow and instead focus on quality,” Rajiv Nair, CEO, Celio Future Fashion Ltd told Express. Kishore Biyani-led Future Group is a partner in Celio.

Stating that the company was not against the concept of e-commerce, Nair said, Celio would want to promote its own e-commerce marketplace in India.

Launched recently, it churns out over 7 per cent of the company’s total sales in India.

“We have recently started online sales in India and will prefer to develop our photography and content for products in-house,” he said adding that by next year, sales contribution from e-commerce would double.

Meanwhile, the company, which so far has restricted itself to self-owned-store model, is now exploring other channels including setting up franchise stores and selling through distributors in certain pockets.

“We are talking to partners and have signed up a few alliances. The idea is to set up at least 10-15 stores this year,” Nair said.

Currently, the company operates 41 standalone stores and 128 shop-in-shop stores, which too are owned and run by Celio, across the country.

According to Nair, Celio, which spends about `3,000 to `4,000 per sq ft for standalone stores, is likely to achieve break-even in next one or two years at a corporate level.
